Lawn Mowing

At Calhoun’s Yard & Lawn Grooming (CYLG) we mow the lawns to the edge of the property line to a maximum height of two inches with conventional lawn mowing machines. The objective is to prevent your grass from flowering and sprouting seed heads and keeping your lawn in a healthy, perpetual state of growth throughout the year.

We routinely execute lawn care maintenance to avoid negligence that can often open up your landscape to potential infections by diseases or infestations by pests.

Trimming & Edging

After the initial mowing, we add a finished and manicured touch to our lawn projects. We trim the lawn in a horizontal cut to establish a consistent cut pattern in the lawn. Then, like a barber, we edge in a vertical cut, with our metal blades placed perpendicular to the ground for maximum efficiency.

Our methods of trimming and edging adds distinctiveness to the lawn and gives it an overall enhanced appearance next to the hardscapes (sidewalks, driveways, etc.)

Shrub & Hedge Trimming

Flowering shrubs often have a bushy appearance and flower the majority of the year. We trim shrubs to prevent overgrowing which could lead to generating too much foliage, fruit or flowers. Ornamental shrubs (hedges) do not flower, but are known for their foliage, shapes and ornamental look.

Our team has experience in maintaining both types and will trim and shear it to various shapes and sizes based on your specifications.

Tree Pruning & Removal

Healthy trees add value to any landscape but they require proper care and maintenance to consistently flourish. CLYG has developed a sustainable Tree Care Program that provides complete disease prevention, fertilization, and insect control.

Our service includes pruning and clipping overhanging tree limbs to enhance the ascetics of your living spaces while improving plant growth and bloom potential for your trees. We are also skilled in the cutting, shredding and the disposal of trees.

Preventive Maintenance

CLYG uses hydration and nutritional methods as the first line of defense against any disease outbreaks, pests, or weeds. Our objective is for your lawn to remain vibrant and lush, therefore we customize our strategy to the uniqueness of your lawn.

We start with a quick turf test to determine the property’s lawn structure and to ascertain any issues above and below the surface. Lastly, we customize a maintenance plan with selective herbicides, pesticides and/or fertilizers as preventive maintenance.

Lawn Winterizing

There are warm season grasses and cool season grasses, which maintain its health and growth best in 65-75 degree weather. Cool season grasses need nitrogen in order to survive the winter months successfully (winterization).

The formula for winterizing lawns isn’t the same on each property and there are plenty of contributing factors: lawn structure, previous maintenance strategies and current objectives. Our team of experts are skilled in identifying the best winterization strategy for your lawn to survive the winter.
